Julina Thomason and Fred Pruitt met in Itasca Texas. He worked at the Light Plant and she lived with her father, J.P. Thomason in Itasca. They dated for three years and he wanted to get married. He had a job in Ft. Worth and wanted to move there. She was unwilling to leave her aging father and move. She was 29 years old and he was 25. they married the day before she was 30 so she “would not be an old maid”. They were married on her fathers birthday October 17 1912 and her birthday was October 18th. They lived with her father and brother, Clay.
Julina and Fred were not able to have children right away as most people did in those days. After being married for 12 years, Julina was 44 year old and became pregnant. She delivered he first and only child on March 29,1926 in the Boyd Sanitarium in Hillsboro, Texas. A cesearean section had to be preformed as she couldn’t deliver normally. Her pelvis was to small. The new Surgeon in the hospital had not performed the operation, but had seen it done in his Medical School. So he and his assistant did the surgery and it came out well. A healthy 8 lb girl, named for her father Fred came into this world. Her name was Freddy Sue Pruitt named after Fred and her grandmother Sue Thomason.
