Julina Hinkle Reavis was Grandmother Julina Pruitt’s grandmother

DIED

On last Friday in this city an old landmark passed over the river of death to her reward in the brighter world Mrs. Julina Reavis had lived in this world 81 years, 11 months and 5 days, and although her demise had been expected for some time owing to her advanced age and feeble health, it nevertheless came as a shock to her large family. She had lived here so long and filled such a useful sphere, that it will be hard for her dear ones to take up the burden of life without her kindly, sympathetic advice and assistance. A large crowd of sympathizing friends sorrowfully followed all that was mortal of the departed one to the cemetery Saturday and witnessed the internment. Rev J. R. Clark officiating. The maiden name of the deceased was Miss Julina Hinkle. She was married in 1830 to Mr W.A. Reavis in Lincoln County Tennessee. They removed to Texas in 1851, stopping in Leon County. In 1866 they came to Hill County, where they resided until death called them away. She survived here husband 27 years. She reared a family of eight children, five of whom are still living. William, Mrs. Elizabeth Orenbaum, Mrs. Julia Johnson, Mrs. Sue Thompson, and her twin brother Ed B. Three of the children preceded their mother over the dark river. Mrs. A. B. Ponder, Wilson O. and Margaret. Grandma Reavis, as her friends loved to call her, had been a firm and consistent member of the Baptist Church since early childhood, and has all along her journey through this vale of tears been noted for her piety and zeal in working for her Master. Her surviving children and grandchildren have the sincere sympathy of all our citizens in their irreparable loss, but they can console themselves with the comforting thought that she is now where toil and pain is not known and where the weary are at rest.
